Best Buy Consumer Electronics Recycling Program
Since 2001, E4 Partners has been retained by Best Buy Co., Inc., the nation’s leading electronics retailer, to help plan and coordinate their Consumer Electronics Recycling Program.
Best Buy believes that everyone has a part in completing the recycling loop - that’s why the Company has come up with a simple, fun and convenient program for recycling electronics that protects the environment while raising awareness of recycling options. Our consumers deserve easy and environmentally safe ways to recycle unwanted electronic products.
This year more than 40 million televisions and computer monitors will become obsolete in the U.S. Computers and televisions can contain materials such as lead and mercury that can be harmful to the environment if simply thrown in the trash. With 4 to 7 pounds of lead used to make an average picture tube, a few discarded TV sets can be as hazardous as a typical car battery. People want to get rid of electronics while remaining responsible, but often are unsure about what to do or where to go.
Working together, Best Buy, our consumers, manufacturers and governments can make sure old computer monitors, televisions and other electronic products are recycled to make new products rather than just tossed in the garbage. Our plans for 2003 are to hold electronics recycling events at several locations across the U.S.
Best Buy approached E4 Partners because of E4’s national expertise in electronics recycling issues. E4 assisted Best Buy in:
Determining the type of Consumer Electronics recycling program to put in place;
Identifying key strategic elements that were critical to a successful consumer recycling program.
Developing both short and long terms goals for the events-based electronics recycling program. |
Planning and coordinating Best Buy’s electronics recycling events program. E4 has planned and coordinated over 70 events in 290 states for Best Buy. |
Ensuring the smooth delivery of the entire Consumer Electronics Recycling Event program that Best Buy has conducted since April 2001. |
Gathering and analyzing data from the program and recommending program changes and improvements based on data analysis. |
